About Us

Glasshouses are built to house plants within a protected environment which allows the sun to pass through the glass warming the contents.  The name Glasshouse Tours derived from the same idea – “to protect nature” and to support the people who care for nature’s wildlife where controlled conditions allow for the natural conditions to flourish.

Tours are economically priced to avoid too much commercial intention so that Glasshouse Tours’ love and interest in supporting the fragile environments, nature, ecology, indigenous culture, wild-life and the animal kingdom can be shared with all.  Glasshouse Whale Watching Tours commenced operations in 1994 with a focus on creating tours that support the National Parks and Wildlife programs wherever possible and these objectives have remained constant alongside the introduction of many nature stimulated tour additions.

Glasshouse Tours are based in Sydney and are open for bookings at The Green Room Internet Café located at 5-7 Raglan Street, Manly NSW Australia.
All enquiries and appointments can be made on 02 9290 2825.

Glasshouse are specialists in Whale Watching Tours selecting the most exciting and best whale watching imaginable – many testimonials have been written over the years to Glasshouse, one such excerpt is written by Bob Walker, a true appreciator of Nature, he says to the Editor of the Torch:

“Recently my wife and I went on a bus tour to Narooma to have a chance to see the whales.  That may be of little interest to many people, if it were not for what these magnificent creatures mean to all Australians.  The intelligence the whales and many sea creatures have is remarkable and to think of destroying them should be a crime.  The tour company was Glasshouse Whale Watching Tours and they really know their job, and being a novice of bus tours I was certainly impressed and found it fascinating.  It is true, when people say good company gives you a good time.  To be able to actually be in the presence of the sea creatures such as whales, fur seals, and fairy penguins can not be described on paper, but the experience has a definite effect on you.  One thing has become very clear, what time I personally input opposing unjust treatment is worth the effort.  People protecting the whales and sea creatures are a true inspiration.   I would like to publicly thank Danielle Henderson and Ken Edwards from Glasshouse Tours for their wonderfully informative commentary, and personal time to make the trip one to remember always for both of us.”

They’re Back….Come on a roller coaster nature ride with Glasshouse Whale Watching Tours and discover THE WHALES!  Humpbacks, Sei Whales, Southern Rights, Fin Whales, Killer Whales, Dolphins and sometimes even the biggest mammal of them all the Blue Whales can be seen as they migrate back to the Antarctic.

2008 saw between 2,000 and 3,000 new Humpback calves born and we’ll be seeing a surge of whales coming of age in 2009!  Don’t miss the boat!  With Glasshouse Whale Watching Tours, you can see whales with those who care aboard the Cat Balou, winners of the 2007 South Coast Tourism Awards for Excellence!

WHAT TO DO WITH THE WAYWARD WHALE HUNTER – Many species have been hunted almost to extinction; today with rapid moving vessels, mounted with canons firing violent-rendering harpoons, processing the whale on board while still out at sea.  Australia joining with other nations of the world is an anti-whaling nation – and due to this incentive, these magnificent creatures are now coming back.
